Comprehensive answers about Palmier Pro features, licensing, and usage
The video editor core (without generative AI features) is fully open source. The MCP server and agent chat functionality are also open source. The only closed-source component is the generative AI processing engine, which requires cloud-based model integration.
Palmier Pro is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3). This means you can freely use, modify, and distribute the software, with the requirement that any derivative works must also be open-sourced under the same license.
Yes, the open-source core can be used commercially. However, the generative AI features require a separate subscription license. Commercial users can leverage the open-source editor for video editing tasks while paying for AI features.
Yes! The core video editor is completely free with no login required. You can use it for basic video editing tasks similar to CapCut or Adobe Premiere. The MCP server is also free to experiment with AI integrations. Only generative AI features require a subscription.
Palmier Pro integrates with state-of-the-art models including Seedance for video generation, Kling for advanced video synthesis, and Nano Banana Pro for high-quality image generation. We continuously add support for new SOTA models as they become available.
The MCP server exposes HTTP endpoints at http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp when the app is running. This allows AI assistants like Claude, Codex, and Cursor to interact with your timeline directly. You can add assets, edit clips, and modify projects through AI commands.
Absolutely! You can connect Claude, Codex, or Cursor via MCP to work on the same project simultaneously. The in-app agent chat also allows collaborative editing where both you and the AI can suggest and implement changes in real-time.
Currently, Palmier Pro supports macOS 26 (Tahoe) on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3 chips) only. We're exploring Windows and Linux support for future releases, but Apple Silicon provides the best performance for our AI-powered features.
• macOS 26 (Tahoe)
• Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3)
• 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended)
• 4GB free disk space
• Internet connection for AI features
Yes, for basic video editing tasks. The core editor works without internet. However, generative AI features and MCP server require an internet connection to access cloud-based models and AI services.
